Brian ODwyer is a senior partner in the law firm of ODwyer & Bernstien, a medium sized litigation firm in New York City, concentrating in Labor Law, Employee Benefit Funds, Personal Injury, Government Representation, Civil Rights, and Immigration Rights. He was cited by both the National Law Journal and the Legal Times as having the highest personal injury award of $61 million in the United States. Mr.
ODwyer has served as Counsel to the Department of Community Affairs
of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and serves as Counsel to the Benefit
Fund of the Newspaper Guild of New York - The New York Times, The International
Brotherhood of Teamsters, New York District Council of Carpenters, Service
Employees Local 74, as well as other ERISA funds. He is a regular commentator
on legal issues for Fox TV, Court TV, and CNBC. He is a member of the
Board of the Charles Lawrence Keith and Clara Miller Foundation, which
funds Civil Rights and Immigration Rights groups. He has been cited for his efforts on behalf of the people of Puerto Rico as well as by the Governor of Puerto Rico and was made Honorary Grand Marshal of the Puerto Rican Day Parade in 1993. Mr. ODwyer has been chosen by Irish America magazine as a member of the Top 100 Irish in the United States. He is a recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor Award and the Outreach Project Annual Service Award. He received the New York City Council Spirit of New York Award for his work in bringing New Yorks ethnic community together. In
July 2000, Mr. ODwyer received papal honors when he was named
a Knight of the Holy Sepulchre, conferred by Archbishop Edward Egan
of New York. In January 2001 he was awarded the Director's Citation
for exemplary Public Service by the Office of Personnel Management,
United States and Government, citing his work as Commissioner on the
