Ian K. Henderson chairs the firm’s real estate practice.
Mr. Henderson has spent the majority of his legal career assisting clients in all facets of residential and commercial real estate transactions. He has vast experience representing homeowners in all areas of residential transactions, including purchasing, selling, or refinancing single- and multi-family homes, townhouses, condominiums and cooperative apartments. In addition, Mr. Henderson has assisted borrowers obtain home equity loans, loan modifications and/or consolidations as well as negotiated mortgage workouts to avoid foreclosure.
Mr. Henderson also serves as closing counsel for residential lenders in and around the New York Metropolitan area. In addition to drafting, reviewing and organizing closing documents for residential lenders, Mr. Henderson also advises clients regarding regulatory compliance on both the state and federal levels. He also represents lenders in mortgage assignments, loan consolidations, as well as coordinating cooperative loan payoffs.
In addition, Mr. Henderson assists the firm’s Labor and Employee Benefit practice by advising pension, welfare, annuity and 401(k) plans on various matters including compliance with ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, DOL and HHS guidelines. Mr. Henderson specializes in reviewing and interpreting Qualified Domestic Relations Orders issued to retirement plans and assists these retirement plans in creating and administering policies and guidelines compliant with local, state and federal laws.
Mr. Henderson is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the New York City Bar Association.
