Motor vehicle accidents: native New York resident killed

On June 24, 2015, a man who was sitting on a bench in the park was struck by a motor vehicle. The 57-year-old man died from his injuries in the 2 p.m. accident. There were two vehicles involved in this New York crash. Motor vehicle accidents are often deadly; however, these accidents do not often include a pedestrian.

A car that was attempting to turn left was hit by an SUV. The collision pushed the SUV up onto the sidewalk and onto the pedestrian. The driver of the car was not injured.

Witnesses did not immediately realize that there was a man trapped under the SUV. They do say, however, that the SUV became airborne just after the collision with the car and then landed on top of the man who was sitting on the park bench. The man, who was a Vietnam veteran, was pronounced dead. The 25-year-old driver of the car, who was female, was charged that night for driving when ability impaired.

Motor vehicle accidents on New York streets can turn deadly fast. In instances such as this one, someone who is not even in a vehicle can be the victim of a fatal crash that starts in the street between two motor vehicles. The family of  a victim involved in such an accident as this may wish to pursue a suit in a New York civil court and may benefit by speaking with an attorney who is well versed in the laws of the state regarding motor vehicle crashes and pedestrian victims.
