Real Housewives star injured in car accident in Manhattan

NY Personal Injury Default Image

Former Real Housewives of New York star Jill Zarin was injured in a multi-car accident on Friday afternoon, while riding in a car from the Upper East Side towards downtown Manhattan, according to the New York Post. “Jill Zarin was rushed by ambulance to the hospital where she was treated for unknown injuries and later released,” her representative reported. In a statement on Twitter, her media assistant said that “Jill is doing well and resting after the car accident this morning”.

According to the report, Zarin was not wearing a seatbelt and was knocked unconscious by the crash. She was taken by ambulance to New York Presbyterian Hospital where she was treated and released.

While we are thankful that Ms. Zarin is doing well, few things are more frightening than an accident and the stress of recovery. For those individuals who are seriously injured in auto accidents, the maze of medical bills, insurance companies and seeking just compensation for your injuries can add unnecessary pressure when you should be focused on your recovery.

When it comes to getting compensated for you auto accident injuries, it can be difficult to know what you are entitled to because of the need to establish fault of the various drivers involved and the need to deal with the different insurance companies of each vehicle. When three or more motor vehicles are involved in an accident, a claim can often require extensive investigation and sometimes litigation to determine the cause or causes of the accident and the legal responsibilities of the various drivers. Those causes can include, for example, vehicles following each other too closely, stopping too suddenly, turning too quickly, or changing lanes improperly. In today’s world, even though it is against the law, many drivers attempt to drive while texting or talking while holding a cell phone. Weather conditions and roadway conditions may also be contributing factors in causing multiple car accidents.

New York is a comparative fault state concerning both tort liability and negligence claims meaning that each and every driver who contributes to causing a multi-vehicle accident can be held legally responsible. However, car insurance companies do not willingly or freely pay out claims. Insurance claims adjusters often try to weasel out of paying claims and attempt to fault the injured person or some other third party, especially in multiple car accident claims. Often insurance representatives will not agree on percentages of fault for their respective drivers and it becomes necessary to file a lawsuit and conduct depositions of the parties, among other discovery.

That’s why it is important to hire an experienced personal injury lawyer familiar with multiple car accidents who is willing and able to conduct the proper investigation, protect your rights, advocate for you against the insurance companies and their lawyers, and take your case to trial if necessary,

Hiring an experienced car accident lawyer greatly increases your chances of prevailing in a multiple car accident case and obtaining a monetary award.
