The bus was on its way from Boston to New York. Officials said that 18 of the 41 passengers suffered non-life threatening injuries and were taken to area hospitals.

According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, more than 700 million passengers are annually transported by buses nationwide . Many reach their destinations safely but from 1992 to 2012 there were nearly 578,000 people injured in bus accidents. 23,000 people were injured in 2012 alone.
